Millions of Brazilians have made their voices heard, reminding the world of the extraordinary power of democracy.
Democracy is not something we can ever take for granted. It is something we must defend, protect and renew, generation after generation.
At a time when fear and division are gaining ground across the world, Brazil reminds us that hope can overcome fear, that solidarity can overcome division, and that a better future is always worth fighting for.
Congratulations to President @lulaoficial and our sister party, @ptbrasil, on this remarkable victory!
As PES President @stefanlofven said:
“The future is never written by those who spread fear, but by the people who refuse to give up on hope.”
PES Secretary General @giacomofilibeck was in São Paulo to join the “Caminhada do Lula” in support of Lula and the PT, demonstrating the solidarity of the European progressive family. He also followed the electoral process, including the vote count.
